Meet Dr. Barry Gooden
Barry Gooden, DDS
Dentistry broadens my knowledge of both science and humanity. I truly enjoy the people in our community who I have gotten to know through my profession. I am able to learn new things every day simply by examining and talking to people!
Education and Continuing Education
To become a dentist, I attained my Associate Degree in Applied Sciences from Bee County Junior College in Dental Hygiene in 1978. Afterward, I graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio with my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1985.
I constantly participate in Continuing Education courses because they keep me up to date with the latest technologies and techniques in dentistry. This helps me offer the best treatment to my patients, which is my ultimate goal! Each new dental method means a safer, more efficient and more comfortable experience for my patient, and I am always looking to make my patients happier and healthier people.
In the Practice
I enjoy helping people with their dental needs and getting to know them and their families. I like to educate my patients and offer different types of alternatives to meet their dental needs. I love to do general practice because I get to see all family members, and I am able to see patients since early years up to adulthood.
What I like most about my practice is that I get to meet different people from different backgrounds and learn from them on a daily basis. After 30+ years in practice, many patients have become like part of my family, and that has made my job truly rewarding.
My team is very friendly and always maintains a light and upbeat tone in our office. They all know their jobs and do them well. They all know that the patients are the reason we are here. They are friendly and courteous, and all get along well.
Family Life
I grew up in San Antonio, and have lived in Boerne since 1968. I have a lovely wife and three children to keep me busy! We also have a dog, three cats and chickens at home. In my spare time, I love to go fishing and golfing. Most of all, though, I love going on vacations with my family!
It’s important to me to help those in need. For that reason, I provide support for community projects like the shelter for battered women, Hill Country Mission for Health, the Shriners, the Boerne Optimist club, and local schools.
